JJ To Be Putz'd On The DL?

According to Yahoo Sports, JJ Putz' elbow "hurts like hell", and he will be in NY today to have his elbow examined.

Not committing, Putz said, "I don't want to say anything until the doctor gives me what his direction would be."

It is believed that Putz will be heading to the DL, and have surgery to remove bone spurs from his right, pitching, elbow. The malady has caused extreme discomfort when Putz tries to throw his nasty splitter.

If Putz does indeed have the anticipated surgery, possible replacement options from AAA Buffalo would be Elmer Dessens, who is 3-1, 1.29 ERA, 51 K, 105 IP, 1.390 WHIP - or Nelson Figueroa , who is 1-4, 3.19 ERA, 31 K, 48.1 IP, 1.083 WHIP. These stats for both pitchers are their stats for AAA Buffalo this year.

Omar, is it time to start utilizing your cell phone minutes?
