40 years ago today . Do you remember Tom Seaver and his 1 hitter?

I of course don’t but maybe some of you do and maybe you were there when the Mets ace baffled the Cubs for 8 and 1/3 innings before Jimmy Qualls broke it up.

Check out our post from May regarding the latest on Jimmy Qualls here

Also SI has Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan on there latest cover. There is an article which goes over the 1 hitter by Seaver as well which you can read about here

I remember it well, it was a night game. The whole family was in the living room thinking that soemething great was going to happen that night. I mean the Cubs were completely over-matched the entire game. And then Jimmy Q---

I can't continue. :)

Anyway, I also remember watching his 18 strikeout game against the Padres as he struck out the last 10 batters in a row! This still stands in my mind as the most impressive displays of pitching dominance in MLB history.

Tom Seaver was no joke.
