According to a report on Flushing University, Johan Santana had a cortisone shot in his left shoulder this past weekend at Citizens Bank Park.
The report claims that Dr. David Altchek administered the injection to alleviate shoulder soreness Santana has. This information was not made public.
It is not known if this shot was to reduce inflammation in the shoulder or if it was for a tendinitis problem. It is also not known which day he had the injection. He did pitch on Sunday, but it is customary to wait at least two days after a cortisone shot before a player is able to resume playing.
