Mets could add Vicente Padilla for a song.

The Rangers are sending Padilla packing since he has been designated for assigment on Friday. He was 8-6 with a 4.92 ERA in 18 starts and has a penchant for hitting people.

The Mets have always looked at trying to obtain the feisty pitcher. Ok so maybe the year is a total loss but I would rather see him pitch then Parnell at this point. I love the kid but he needs to be beaten and have his fastball tied behind his back. The kid relys on it too much and really needs to learn a 3rd pitch. Have him go down to the minors and work on a 3rd pitch and bring him back up when the rosters expand. Then have him take Santana's place in the rotatation so you can save his arms innings. I have no desire to see Parnell get rocked every start and then see Figgy or tubby Redding pithcing.

It would be more enjoyable seeing Padilla whacking some of the opposing teams players . At least there would be a little excitement in Citi instead of the dunk tank.

Hey, Smoltz was DFA'd. Maybe being in the NL East will rejuvenate him. If not, there is always Jerry Koosman, Steve Carlton, and Jack Morris available...
