Mets New Weekend Look

This weekend will be interesting at Gil Hodges Memorial Park; The ownership has finally decided to realize they own the Mets, and not the Brooklyn Dodgers, and have more Mets memorabilia in the stadium, such as pennants, pictures, etc. (Mets To Finally Acknowledge History).

As posted by Long Island Met Fan (Here), the Mets will be sporting a "new retro" uniform, which is being displayed at the left.

According to Metsmerized On Line , these uniforms are circa late 1800's/early 1900's. Maybe it's me, but when a team really needs to pull a stunt like this, it means they are desperate, and the product on the field isn't worth watching, "so hey, let's change our uniforms."

The Mets, As Posted Here , should ditch the ugly black uniforms, and stick with the white, pinstriped, and road gray uniforms, all with the blue hat and orange NY. We don't need lame promotions. We need our Mets to play good baseball...oh yeah, and ditch the retro and black uniforms.

Thanks to Metsmerized On Line for the picture.

Throwback jerseys can be fun when done right. and it can really be like Old Timer's Day without the people.

I wrote a full post on RememberingShea, but simply put, have the Giants and Mets wear (the correct visitor/home jerseys) from the last year each team called the Polo Grounds home, and have the Dodgers and Mets wear jerseys celebrating Negro Leagues and integration with 1947 Brooklyn road jerseys for the Dodgers and NY Cubans from the Negro Leagues for the Mets.
