Tough game to stomach against a pitcher the Mets released last year. Livan had an ERA over 7 in his last 12 starts before the Mets dumped him but the Mets couldn’t figure the guy out.
Manager Jerry made some comments during his post game to the effect like the team just didn’t seem to work within the game plan. Jerry during news conference said “Having the information and not trusting it…It is seems as though we have to experience it. Until it becomes revelation.” Well if you looked at the fact that Gary Matthews Jr was up 4 times with 2 outs and men on and had the opportunity to work within the game plan or I saw was big swings. No situational hitting.
Even Jeff Francoeur said afterward that the team seemed to be "going through the motions" and that is a troubling statement at the end of the first week . Now who knows that if this was taking out of context but I have to say Sunday’s game looked bad against a journey man pitcher who might be released mid year when the Nats bring up Strasburg.
Jose Reyes seemed to have lost his smile since being out. Of course you saw it in pregame batting etc. When he went up to bat in the 9th he looked like he couldn’t wait to get the game over. Not a good sign from the guy who is suppose to spark these Mets.
