What The F
Are you kidding me? Of course not, this is the Mets. As I had scribed earlier, Figgy is Jerry's new Ryan Church. He could go out and throw 132 scoreless innings, and be released before his next start.
Figgy, who is out of options, has said if he clears waivers, he might give Japan a shot. Other than pitching adequately for two innings this spring, what has Sean Green done to deserve a position on this team? If Ruben Tejada isn't going to be used, why isn't he getting some quality PT in AAA?
As my esteemed colleague, Long Island Met Fan, said, what does Figgy have to do? Can you imagine if he doesn't clear waivers, signs with an NL team, and goes on to hammer the Mets? I can see it now...
Since this organization can't figure out what to do, or what to say, let me do the speaking: Good Luck Figgy. Although you don't possess some of the skills that other pitchers have, you do have intelligence and that competitiveness that many are lacking. You always handled yourself with more class than the organization you pitched for the last three years. It has been a pleasure seeing you reach your (partial) dream of pitching in your hometown.
Best of luck Figgy. You are truly an inspiration and a model of hard work.

Keeping Figgy = right; keeping Green = wrong. Based on every other decision they make, what else could we have expected?
