Are The Mets Interested In Fausto Carmona?
According to MLB Trade Rumors and ESPN's Buster Olney, the Mets have discussed acquiring Fausto Carmona...internally. There have been no offers (known) made, but the team has discussed possibly working a deal for the Right Hander.
Carmona's contract is palatable: he is guaranteed $8.9M through 2011, and the Indians have three consecutive club options. This year Carmona has bounced back; he is 6-5, 3.31ERA, 1.224 WHIP - no bad numbers for a poor team.
Could this be a possible reason that Jenrry Mejia was sent down to the minors to practice starting? Many believe Mejia was sent down to become possibly trade bait. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets did it so that they can rid themselves of either John Maine or Oliver Perez.
I'm sure this scenario will pick up steam as we roll closer to the trade deadline.
