Daniel Murphy hurt in game against the Chiefs.

Don't expect Daniel Murphy aka super joe back in Citi Field anytime soon after he suffers a serious leg injury Wednesday night in the Bisons game against the Chiefs.

According to the Buffalo News' Mike Harrington, Murphy needed to be carried off the field after getting rolled at second on a "cheap slide" on a double play takeout by Syracuse's Leonard Davis. Murphy was unable to put weight on his right leg.

Murphy was playing in only his second game at second base. He just had made it back from injury. He was on the DL for a srained medial collateral ligament in the knee of the same leg.

Bison Manager Ken Oberkfell had this to say "The way he turned the double play was nice. He made the right pivot. It just looked like the guy got there late and when Murph came down he never got out of the way once he planted his foot. "

More then likely Murphy hyperextended his knee. Feel bad for the Murph man. All he wants to do is help the team out anyway he can but seems like 2010 is a lost year for him.

In the same game Josh Thole was whacked by a bat. He was taken out after feeling "woozy"

Jobu predicts that we have seen the LAST of daniel murphy. While he will play again, he will re-appear as a DH in the AL when he gets better. Too bad the Mets won't get anything for him.
