Mets could use Cliff Lee but not worth the price as a rental

The Mets are in the playoff hunt 70 games into the 2010 season. What a change from the debacle of 2009. The Mets are looking at pitching with the top tier of arms being Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt. One comes with alot of $$ that is owed and is not someone who might be looking to come to the spotlight of NY. The other would come as a rental. Lee, the Rental should be only something the Mets should look at if the price is warranted.

The Mariners would like some talent in return for the superstar. Lee I am sure would love to pitch for the Mets just for the fact of pitching against the Phillies who traded him away to sign Roy Halladay. There is some talk the Mets would have to give up Thole since the Mariners are looking at scoring a catcher. Thole value to the Mets has soured a little. I would be ok if they also gave up the present day version of Alex Escobar in Fernando Martinez. There have been plenty of rookies coming through the NL East teams system that do not have the injuries this kid has. Just dont have faith that this kid can play and hit for power. At this point let him go but that is all I would give up and if the Mariners want Wilmer Flores or Ruben Tejada just say buh bye. It is a rental of a superstar for 2 months and to give up players that could be playing in the majors for years to come is not worth it.

Plus now that the Rangers might not be able to make a play for Oswalt he might have limited options. Which the Mets can use as a chip saying we can go another route if the price for Lee is too high. Don't sell the farm to get Lee. That is all I ask.
