On a night where some rook who I cant remember his name pitches 7 innings and has 14k's, our #2 starter who at this point would be a #1 starter on most teams went 9 innings last night and gave up only 1 run.
The Padres scored in the first inning when Adrian Gonzalez missed a homer by a couple of feet down the left field line that plated 1 run and that is all the Padres would get all night.
Economical Big Pelf kept the Padres off balance by throwing inside to lefties and on the black to the righties. Pelf gave up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 0. He had good command of his split and had a real low pitch count throughout the game. He threw 103 pitches and 78 for strikes. That is Santana like. He lowered his ERA to 2.23. His ERA over his last 6 starts his just 1.87 with 4 wins and no losses.
Looking forward to our Man Pelf taking a whack at the hapless Orioles this weekend.
