Mets face a hot Phillies Team

The Mets ride into Citizens bank park losing 2 out of 3 to the first place Braves and hanging by a thread to a playoff chance while the Phillies are still making a run for the Braves even with 3 key injuries of there starting 8.

The Phillies stole a win last night on a lousy call in the bottom of the 9th against the Marlins and went on to win in the 10th and wound up sweeping the Marlins. Even with Utley & Victorino down and Ryan Howard joing them on the DL this past week the streaking Phillies have won 12 out of 14.

Key to there success has been that Raul Ibanez has started to hit like the 1st half of 2009 in the last 2 weeks. He is riding a 13 game hit streak and is hitting close to .450 with 3 homers in his last 47 at bats.

With Howard down the Phillies picked up Mike Sweeney from Seattle. This will give the Phillies another right bat which should help them since they face Niese tonight and Santana on Saturday night. Sweeney has not played 1st base much but is a contact hitter that was hitting .280 with 8 homeruns in 240 at bats mostly as a DH for the Mariners.

The Mets face Joe Blanton tonight and then Cole Hamels on Saturday with Halladay facing Dickey on Sunday.  Mets have had success against Blanton with Castillo hitting close to .500 against him in 17 at bats and Frenchy hitting over .300.
