According to the NY Times Hisanori Takahashi, “is close to agreeing to a multiyear deal with the Los Angeles Angels pending a physical, according to an executive with knowledge of the situation.” The dollar amounts have been leaked out yet but he wanted a multi year deal with more then the couple of million the Mets were offering.
The Mets tried to work a deal for the pitcher, who at the end of the year was our closer, but he was granted free agent status and the Mets couldn’t have him play for them until May 15th. The Mets are now stuck with the likes of Ollie Perez who has not given up a run in Mexico in 10 innings and Pat Misch since Pedro Felicano declined arbitration.
