What a difference a year makes for the Mets.

The Mets say they have the funds to re sign David Wright and R A Dickey this off season. Well as a Met fan your happy that at least they can try to retain Wright and give Dickey a well deserved raise. This is partially due to the fact that the hapless Wilpons don’t have to spend mad $4 paying off the Madoff debt . Well my question is this. If this is true, and lets just say this was resolved a year earlier, would Reyes still be a Met? Probably not since they knew they would have had to deal with Wright this off-season. Ok but what about Carlos Beltran? As anyone been watching him this post season? He signed a 2 year deal with the Cards which I am sure if the Madoff mess was behind them already they could have kept him and had him play right. They could have speculated a little and hoped that would have been settled in their favor. The Wilpons are used to taking on risk. (see Bay’s contract )

Or did they really want Duda in RF. Honestly I think the kid is playing at his best now . Wouldn’t have been great to have another power guy to supplement Davis and Wright and spray the ball all over the park. The guy did nothing but give his all under the microscope of NY media and fans. Was great to see him let go when the Cards took the series from the Nats. Thanks Wilpons …
