Former Met reliever, Ambiorix Burgos, will be sentenced to 9 months in Jail for assault on his girlfriend in a hotel near Shea Stadium.
Burgos, who was sent to the Mets in the Brian Bannister trade, was convicted of assault last month.
According to the AP, "Burgos punched, slapped and stepped on then-girlfriend Maria Lopez when she tried to leave the hotel where he was staying."
Lopez testified that Burgos told her the police wouldn't do anything to him because he was a professional ball player.
Burgos is also accused of running down two women with his automobile. This case has not yet gone to trial.
